Barter anyone?
- A BOTTLE FOR A BOTTLE-
You may have read some of the information on this website, maybe even the tasting notes, and now you are intrigued: is this Gnoré wine any good?
As is clearly stated on this website, Gnoré wine is not for sale, you cannot order it. But I still wanted to create a possibility for you, website visitor and wine lover, to obtain a bottle. To do so I decided that a form of barter would be the solution.
Barter is a centuries-old method of exchanging goods without money changing hands, something like: “I give you a fish, if you repair my shoe” (or on the picture: “my bales of wool for some of your cloth”). I like this concept and came up with the following modern, honour-based barter system.
The underlying concept is that I like to discover new, interesting wines and I am assuming that people, who want to taste my wine, have a similar interest.
I propose to send you a bottle of my wine for free, including postage, if you in return send me for free, including postage, a bottle of wine, that you think is interesting. To give you some guidelines which wine to send:
Without getting obsessed by this issue (see also Pricing and MRI), you are free to send a wine of any price/value, knowing that in continental Europe I would probably ask for EUR 20-25 per bottle if I were to sell my wine. This gives you some idea. Of course, I would be happy to receive a bottle of Torbreck The Laird, Screaming Eagle Cab or any Yquem, but no, that is not where I am yet.
I prefer red to white
I like big wines, but dislike oak
I have a particular interest in the following varieties: Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel/Primitivo, Monastrell/Mourvèdre, high-end Blauburgunder
Any wine region will do, as long as the wine is made with care and intent
